Registration for attendees will open early February.
Join us in Kingston from Thursday, May 21 evening to Saturday, May 23rd noon, 2026 for OAPT’s 48th Annual Conference!
Like all other years, we gather to collaborate, listen, talk and share as Physics and Science educators in high school, college and university. This year, Queen’s University is graciously hosting us on their campus.
The theme of the conference is Dive into Data! We want to celebrate data in all its forms: evidence that informs pedagogy, measurements collected in labs/activities, or large open-source datasets ready for exploration. We look forward to experiencing it all!
What are the Costs? Due to generous sponsorship from the Arthur B. McDonald Canadian Astroparticle Physics Research Institute and Queen's University, the Registration fee will be under $30 (when it is usually around $150). Attendees will still need to cover the costs of accommodation ($64/person/night), transportation and supply teacher.
Some ideas about how to get funding
Ask your principal if they will cover your supply teacher for the day(s) you will be absent. Ask us for a letter of support to give your administrator using the Questions form below.
Ask your school’s union rep if your local has professional development grants. Usually these grants cannot be used to cover supply teachers. For example:
Limestone (OSSTF District 27)
Ottawa-Carleton (OSSTF District 25)
Simcoe (OSSTF District 17)
Ask your school board (Science Consultant/Coordinator) if they have funds to support professional development grants.
We look forward to seeing you there!
More information will be posted here as it becomes available.
Interested in Presenting?
We are currently accepting Proposals for our 2026 conference at Queen's University.
Please complete this form initially by Dec 18, 2025, and fully by January 9, 2026.
We are thrilled to announce that the 48th annual Ontario Association of Physics Teachers Conference, OAPT Dive into Data 2026, will be at Queen's University in Kingston from May 21-23!
We know that May is a long time from now, but we would really like to know if you are considering giving a presentation that targets any of the following:
Areas of interest:
We welcome all proposals connected to physics/science teaching. Whether you have presented many times before or not, we welcome you. Sessions should involve participation through discussion or activities, and not just be lecture-based.
Theme: Dive into Data
We are also interested in sessions that connect to our conference theme: Dive into Data. "Data" might mean evidence that informs pedagogy, measurements collected in labs/activities, or large open-source datasets ready for exploration. “Data” can mean many things and we are excited to see how you frame it.
We encourage proposals of two lengths:
Dates and AV equipment:
Workshops will take place on Friday, May 22 or the morning of Saturday May 23. Each presentation space will have a projector and sound system. Presenters should bring their own computer.
If you would like to have more than one presentation, please submit the form again.
