Thank you to all of our conference attendees, presenters and hosts for another amazing conference See you in 2025! (see the 'Resources' section in the top menu for links to resources from this conference - thanks to all our contributors!) The 2024 Theme was “Physics for a Changing World”, through sessions that focus on: • complex systems and medical physics by TMU Keynote Address: Dr. David Cramb, Dean of Science TMU "Exploring the Scientific Method: Losing your marbles" The OAPT mission is to support excellence in physics teaching at the high school and university levels in Ontario. The OAPT was founded over 40 years ago as a collaboration between secondary and post-secondary physics instructors. Our conference is a great way for educators across Ontario to connect with one another, share teaching ideas, and help build a strong physics education community. Keynote Presentation: Dr. David Cramb, Dean of Science, TMU “Exploring the Scientific Method: Losing your marbles” Room: LG14 As part of a second-year course in Nanoscience, an activity was developed to help learners recall and activate the scientific method. Marbles are chosen as a neutral device for proposing hypotheses that are testable in the classroom. Learners gain experience in experimental design and reproducibility of data they collect. 15 years of experience in this activity has taught us to expect the unexpected. |
