Robert Prior


Robert Prior joined the OAPT in 2009, when he also joined the steering
committee. In 2012 he took over publishing the quarterly OAPT newsletter
in electronic format, and in 2015 moved it fully online in the current
blog-style format which he still publishes. In 2024 he was made a
Lifetime Member of the OAPT.

Robert has a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from the University of
Saskatchewan, and a B.Ed. from Queens University. After working as an
engineer at Bell Northern Research, he lectured at Algonquin Community
College in Ottawa, started teaching high school in North York in 1991,
and retired in 2020.

Robert started playing with simulations in the 1970s and hasn’t stopped
since. He has written for Digest Group Publications, Heliograph, the
Canadian Space Agency, and Steve Jackson Games, as well as proofreading
several science fiction novels. He has created many teaching resources,

In 2021 Robert was awarded the Outstanding Canadian Award for community
service.
