Astronomy Workshop at YorkU

  • 14 Aug 2018
  • 16 Aug 2018
  • York University

This original workshop was developed by professional astronomers from York University, as well as three of the University of Toronto’s astronomy institutes: the Dunlap Institute, the Center for Planetary Sciences, and the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, in coordination with educators from the Faculty of Science at YorkU. We have updated the workshop with new modules, including more recent discoveries in Astronomy. This year the workshop is led again by Matt Russo (Seneca College & SYSTEM Sounds) and Paola Rodriguez Hidalgo (Humboldt State University & University of Washington Bothell).

Please note that teachers without access to PD funds will be fully reimbursed.

Teacher Feedback from 2017:

  • "Engaging and relevant - an insightful way to understand hands-on what Astronomers are doing and how they are doing it"
  • "Extremely interesting subjects, tackling the big questions and ideas in Astronomy."
  • "A total eye opener and confidence booster. It messed with my brain! It pushed my cerebral boundaries! And it also made sense"
